CLUB HISTORY

Our meetings are held on the second Thursday every month.

The Winfield Junior Woman’s Club is celebrating 42 years of community service and philanthropic endeavors.  The Club was organized in 1967 with a group of six women, and Barbara Gary serving as the first president.  One of the first major projects that the Club undertook was to celebrate the Illinois Sesquicentennial in 1968.  This event proved to be so popular with Winfield residents that the event became Winfield’s annual Good Old Days celebration, held the weekend after Labor Day ever since.

Throughout the years, the Club has supported the Winfield community and beyond with programs and monetary donations.  Over the past 10 years alone, the Club has donated over $110,000 to organizations ranging from the American Cancer Society to the YWCA.  In the local community, the Club has made donations to the Winfield Garden Club, Winfield Historical Society, Winfield Chamber of Commerce, Winfield In Action, Winfield Public Library, Winfield School District 34, Relay for Life, People's Resource Center, Winfield Criterium (kids bike parade), Winfield Prince and Princess Parade, College Scholarship to Winfield Area Student, and Central DuPage Hospital with a toy collection for its Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Department.  Winfield residents have benefited from Snacks with Santa, Children’s Halloween Party/Scarecrow Fest, Winfield Road cleanup/Adopt-A-Highway, fundraisers, and the Club’s participation at the Good Old Days.
